The role of the coach attendant in India Railways.

  • The Coach Attendants must be seated in the coach half an hour before the departure of the train.
  • To monitor the safety and convenience of passengers with all the internal fittings in the coach.
  • To ensure that water tanks are full and that all equipment for water supply and use in the bathrooms is operating correctly.
  • To carry a list of all passengers on the coach.
  • If a TTE is not available, check the passengers’ tickets as they enter the coach for the first time to occupy their berths/seats.
  • Keep the compartments locked when the train is running and open them whenever needed.
  • If minor mechanical or electrical defects occur, they will attend and call the employees concerned.
  • To properly clean and maintain the lodges and seats of the compartment in regular intervals.
  • To take care of the passengers’ convenience and help them obtain food and beverages.
  • To ensure that the staff involved properly purify and maintain bathrooms, wash basins and mirrors.
  • To establish a positive appearance from their particular seat on the coach and also not to sleep while on duty.
  • To appear in the duty in the proper unifrom with name badges that can be easily identified.
